12th Annual B4k Amy Pray Outdoor Weekend « Result #1 on Apr 26, 2009, 10:53am »
We are busy once again planning the next main fundraiser of the year, which will allow us to continue granting the outdoor wishes of terminally ill and/or life limited children nationwide! This year is the 12th Annual event, and as we have grown, we have changed a lot of things through this weekend (the original event which Benefit4Kids was born from). New this year we have a Title Sponsor (The Pig Pen Ranch) and a Presenting Sponsor (Michigan Bow Hunters Association).
Weekend Highlights Include:
Free BBQ Meal provided by Country Smoke House (3) 3D Archery Ranges, Trap, Skeet, and 50 Bird Sporting Clay Shooting All Weekend Kid Activities all weekend long (Inflatable Jump Houses, Watermelon Eating Contest, Arrow Cresting, Balloon lady, etc) Free Camping all weekend long
TARGET SPONSORS NEEDED
We are currently looking for target sponsors on (1) of our (3) Archery Courses or new this year (1) of (13) stations available on the 50 Bird Sporting Clay Course! Anyboby, any company, any family, any club, any organization, anybody can sponsor a target which is a GREAT way to support Benefit4Kids even if you can't make it to the event. As you can all tell....there have been even more changes to this board, on the hosting side and we do have a guy that is going to look at this and try to drastically improve the image of this board as time allows. My web skills are not up to par and although I have been able to do a few things, the rest of the changes needed are beyond my knowledge base, thus we have called in some help with this task.
Please bear with us as we struggle through this BUT please continue to view for updates and remember, this is an open forum for all to use. Please post questions, comments, stories, etc. as you see fit.

The 2009 Winter Pig Roast has come and gone, and thanks to all the sponsors, donors, and those that came this year, Benefit4Kids will be able to continue granting the Outdoor Wishes of those kids in need through the upcoming year! Despite the economy and what many thought, people showed up and did spend money! With your help we were able to raise $34,000 for the kids this year, which is record for any single fundraiser since B4K was created in 1998!
Thank you to the 6 event sponsors this year, including Waterfowl USA stepping up as our Presenting Sponsor, as well as the 41 table sponsors. We were fortunate enough to have 13 wish kids in attendance, in which a few of them we were able to surprise with mounts or memorial pictures from their trips! There were also a couple other special moments/presentations that took place…….such as when every wish kid in attendance receiving a special Dream Arrow just for them, hand crafted by Bob Claridy (toppop).
Numerous donations were received for prizes to help us raise these funds and we can't thank those companies and individuals enough. There are too many to mention in fear of leaving one out, but they all know who they are and we can't thank them enough for their support! We would also like to extend a huge Thank You once again to Perch Point Conservation Club for once again donating their facility and stepping up in numerous ways to help make this fundraiser such a success!
This year’s event was sold out 2 weeks early, and having a capacity crowd, we are already looking at options to improve and build on this great event and even the possibility of holding 2 banquets in 2010, so no one is left out. Nothing is a done deal yet but these are some of the challenges we must face in order to continue growing so we can continue to help as many kids as possible! As a result some things might have to change, such as the price of admission and IF so we hope this does not deter people from attending in 2010 and those great people we have met and been able to have at our events in the past will continue to attend no matter what changes we make!
Thank you EVERYONE that had ANY part in making the 2009 B4K Winter Pig Roast Fundraiser such a success! You had a part in this if you donated anything, sponsored the event or a table, or even attended this years event. The smiles on the faces of the kids you will see go through our program in 2009 are all because of YOUR support!

UPDATE!!!
As of 1/15/09 this event is SOLD OUT!!! This is the first time since we started the banquet that it has been sold out 2 weeks early! Thank you to everyone that purchased tickets early and/or sponsored a table.
We do still have plenty of wish kid table sponsors availble for those that want to still donate and help out so contact me as soon as possible.....

On behalf of the entire board of Benefit4Kids, I would like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas Christmas and Happy New Year! We all hope you have a safe and enjoyable holiday season spent with those that matter.....your close friends and family!
2008 has been another very exciting and busy year for B4K. We were able to help 10 kids see their "Outdoor Wishes" come true, and we have 4 more lined up already for 2009. We have seen our name and recognition grow across the United States in various ways which will only help us to continue to grow and help more kids! We have made many changes in board members, seen our volunteers grow, as well as improve and even change some processes and ways of doing things, which will help move us along.
We look forward to another busy and very successful 2009 and thank you for the bottom of our hearts for your continued support to Benefit4Kids, because as we have said over and over....none of this would be possible without you!

Still plenty of tickets left as well as Table Sponsors! Remember if you can't make it to the event but still would like to help, gather a few friends/co-workers, etc.....pool your money together and sponsor a table. This is a great way to help out and also advertise your business or club if so which to do so.
If you have been to the event before, you will not want to miss this year as we have another exciting and memoriable evening planned! This year, we will also have Mossy Oak Pro Staff Members in attendance of which you can talk with and ask any questions you may have about hunting, camo, bows, gear, etc.

Special Fundraiser for Kevin Hertz Family « Result #8 on Nov 4, 2008, 9:02pm »
Kevin Hertz is a current wish kid within B4K, and waiting Chemo and Radiation treatments to end so he can go on his "Outdoor Wish". Kevin is doing ok but he has been through a very rough time lately as has his family with medical bills and housing issues.

5th Annual B4K Winter Pig Roast Fundraiser « Result #9 on Nov 4, 2008, 8:26pm »
We are once again busy planning our next fundraiser coming up January 31st 2009. This will be the 5th year for this event and they only keep getting better and better, and I promise this year will be no different! If you have been to one of our banquets before you won't want to miss this one. Tickets are still just $20.00 for adults and $10.00 for Kids (15 and under) and this includes your drinks.
This years event is once again being held at Perch Point Conservation Club in South East MI. Doors open at 4:00pm.
One of the new things at this years event will be Randy's Hunting Center www.randyshuntingcenter.com out of Bad Axe Michigan providing all the guns. If you have ever been to a banquet where Randy's was at.....you know he puts on a great display of new guns for everyone to have a chance at winning!

Benefit4Kids is deeply saddened by another loss of a child. It was our youngest child ever to receive their “Outdoor Wish” and one who many of us became very close to. Once again, the Benefit4Kids team has had to fight past the tears, stop trying to figure out why, and remember the experience that we were fortunate enough to be able to provide. Knowing that the future is not so bright for some of the kids we work with, you somewhat prepare yourself for this. However, we are never prepared for when that news arrives. Timmy Larson lost his courageous battle with Metastatic Alveolar Rhaybdomyosarcoma (rare muscular cancer) while at home in the arms of his parents Tim and Diane on June 13th, 2008.
Timmy has battled this cancer for just over 2 years, and was pronounced to be in remission around Christmas 2007. I was informed in mid January 2008 that the cancer had returned. Since that day, the cancer has been making a growing presence within the body of a true hero! Timmy never let that stop him from fishing however!
Timmy showed everyone what a true hero is and how you can make the best of each day you are given. During the last few months of his young life, Timmy and his family did a lot of traveling, including a return trip to Oklahoma to fish with Jimmy Houston this past May. This was the second trip to Oklahoma as B4K sent Timmy on his “Outdoor Wish” to go bass fishing with Jimmy Houston in June 2007. Jimmy and his wife, Chris, were so touched by Timmy’s eagerness and fascination with fishing, they stayed in touch with the family after the trip. Upon hearing the news of the cancer returning they invited the family back to spend some more time with him!
Timmy will be missed dearly by everyone that got to know him. We, at Benefit4Kids, are honored to have known and been inspired by Timmy! I’m sure Timmy is standing side by side with God right now, showing him how to correctly bait a hook, and reel in fish! He just might show him how to properly kiss a large mouth bass, per the guidance he learned from Jimmy Houston. We will miss you, Timmy!
